| Women, Victimization, and Covid-19 an Intensified Domestic Abuse amidst Covid-19 | Author : Dr. Umang Gupta | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :COVID-19 pandemic has forced millions of people across the globe to restrict them under home quarantine. While lockdown was imposed for health and safety reasons for its citizens; it has exacerbated numerous socio-economic issues like rising in Domestic Violence cases and its complaints in India. Due to the increase in Domestic Violence cases in India, the Government of India in 2005 passed the Domestic Violence Act that deepened work for the public health issue. The main goal of this research is to examine the available cases of DV in India during quarantine and infer the reasons for them. The data show that unemployment and dissatisfaction as a result of limited access to and/or availability of alcohol following a long prohibition are the major causes of increased DV. Nonetheless, establishing a relationship between DV and lockdown is now difficult due to a lack of data. Domestic Violence Act, it is said, has failed to reduce DV instances in India not just during a lockdown, but also before and after lockdown. This report recommends a large-scale national study based on data from government agencies that track domestic violence complaints.

The study employed the descriptive survey research design. One research question and one hypothesis guided the study. The population for the study consisted of 291 school counsellors in the urban and rural areas in the 291 secondary schools. A questionnaire designed on a 4 likert type scale was used in the study. The research made use of 6-items questionnaire, which was face validated by three experts in the Faculty of Education, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. The reliability of the instrument was determined by using Cronbach Alpha. The reliability index was .81 and it showed that the instrument was reliable. The data were analysed using mean with standard deviation while t-test statistics was used to test the hypothesis. The findings of the study among others showed that the roles of school counsellors in sustainable constitutional democracy in Enugu state are to advise students to enroll for civic education, to advise the curriculum developers to include necessary topics for sustainable constitutional democracy, to establish or improve curriculum programs, which foster an understanding of constitutional democracy among others. One of the recommendations made was that, there should be constant and continuous staff training, retraining and development programmes in order to build the capacity of counsellors towards government process. However, counsellors should be exposed to political systems, rule of law, constitutional development among others so as to equip the students on the necessary skills, aptitude and attitude towards political powers and good governance.

Shahnur Azad Chowdhury, Mohammad Jonaed Kabir, Manjurul Alam Mazumder | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :The physical education system collapse during the Covid-19 situation in Bangladesh and then online education was becoming popular to overcome the problem. The present study is conducted to measure the effect of online education in Covid-19 situation and the performance of the education system. The educational material, teaching facility and skill, online connection service, student acceptability, social acceptability and digital learning perception are identified as the main factor that influence online education, which are measured as (each five) close ended survey (five point Likert scale) questionnaire. The 400 survey response data are finalized by purposefully sampling in randomized block design from public and private university teachers of different division of Bangladesh and analyzed by descriptive analysis, Kolmogorov–Smirnov test, Shapiro –Wilk test, OneSample Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, Spearmans rho correlation, Mann–Whitney test, Kruskal–Wallis H test and ordinal logistic regression model by MS Excel 2016 and IBM SPSS Statistics 26 software. The result shows academic performance of online education, online educational material, online teaching facility and skill, online connection service, online student acceptability, online social acceptability and online digital learning perception are significantly higher than the median test value 3, which are significantly increasing during Covid-19 situation. It is observed that the quality of educational material, teaching facility and skill are significantly affect the academic performance of online education. But online connection service, student acceptability and social acceptability have no significant effect on the academic performance of online education. Also digital learning perception is significantly affect the academic performance of online education. It is observed from the study that the contribution of both male and female gender to the academic performance of online education are same, which are significantly higher perception from the median test value 3. The perception of private university is significantly higher than public university in the academic performance of online education, which are significantly higher perception from the median value. The perception of lower experience group has significantly higher perception on the academic performance of online education gradually. So, the experience of this study may be utilized in the planning and implementing online education management in Bangladesh.

| A Survey of Students Attitudes and Comments about Needed Changes in Communication Skills Learning in Zambia: A Descriptive Study | Author : Mercy I.O. , Ezeala, John Volk | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Introduction: Challenges abound in 21st-century medical education due to the rapidly changing health, technological, socio-political, and economic social milieus, implying the need for a health force that can traverse the complexities of modern society. To meet the demands of the complex and interconnected modern world, medical education is on the tangent to producing doctors competent in the art and science of medicine through the mastery of interpersonal, communication, and clinical skills. Training in communication skills has become a component of undergraduate medical training in many nations. Students attitudes to learning influence their interest, self-reflexivity, and mastery of concepts and skills. This study sought to determine the attitudes of undergraduate medical students in Zambia regarding their experiences of communication skills learning. Methods: Undergraduate students from two medical schools in Zambia who participated in communication skills training completed the Communication Skills Attitude Scale (CSAS) and a demographic questionnaire. The quantitative observational design used the SPSS software to facilitate the computation of the descriptive statistics on the mean scores and standard deviations of the CSAS global, subscales, and individual-items scores. Cronbach s alpha and confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the reliability and validity of the measure and dataset. Results: There was a 96.1% response rate to the distributed questionnaires. The global mean score was 103.6, 55.5 on the positive attitude subscale, and 48.0 on the negative subscale. The students comments highlighted teaching-learning methods, course length, and timing as issues of concern. Conclusion: Despite the favourable disposition of undergraduate medical students in Zambia toward learning communication skills, teaching methods, course timing, and length hinder knowledge and skills transfer.

| Nowcasting the Gold Prices in Türkiye Employing Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) Networks | Author : Dr. Cagatay Tuncsiper | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :Gold is a valuable metal which is widely used to accumulate capital and also as the raw material for a spectrum of jewellery and technological devices. Considering the broad utilization of gold, it is important to model the gold prices on both the country and the global levels. In this study, the gold price in Türkiye is modelled dependent on various related factors. The import, export and production amounts of gold as well as the exchange rate are considered as the input data affecting the gold prices. The seasonal-trend decompositions of the data are analysed as the first step. Then, a multilayer perceptron type deep learning network is developed in Python programming language for the modelling of the gold prices in Türkiye for the period of 2013M01-2023M02. The 70% of the available data is used as the training data whereas 30% of the data is taken as the test data. The actual gold prices and the results of the developed multilayer perceptron deep learning model are plotted which visually shows that the developed model accurately nowcasts the gold prices. The performance metrics of the developed nowcasting model namely the coefficient of determination, mean absolute error, mean absolute percentage error and the root mean square error are also calculated which further verify the accuracy of the developed model. It is argued that the developed model for the modelling of the gold prices can also be used for other countries or regions.
