| Researchers and Journals – What are Their Responsibilities? | Author : Homaile Mascarin do Vale, Cassia Fernanda Estofolete, Ana Elisabete Farinha Ferreira e Dias Pereira, Edla Polsinelli Bedin Mascarin do Vale | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :The article examines the ethical and professional obligations of researchers and scientific journals in the context of exponentially growing scientific literature, particularly in the medical field. With an 86% increase in publications from 2010 to 2021, spurred in part by the COVID-19 pandemic, the study highlights concerns regarding transparency, data integrity, and the peer review process. The pressure to publish, often exacerbated by the “publish or perish” culture, can lead to ethical compromises such as data manipulation, publication bias, and conflicts of interest. The critical role of journals in ensuring the quality, safety, and accuracy of published research is emphasized. Greater accountability between journals and researchers to maintain scientific integrity, avoid retractions, and manage conflicts of interest is advocated. In addition, the research addresses the limitations of rigidly applying clinical guidelines without considering individual patient needs, highlighting the importance of personalized medicine and the judicious use of evidence-based practices.

| Students Perspectives of English within University Subculture in Sri Lanka: Resentment or Acceptance? | Author : Kaushika Premarathne | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :This study investigates Sri Lankan undergraduate students perceptions of the English language within the context of a technological study program conducted in the English medium. Despite global prominence of English as a vital communication tool, over the years many undergraduates in Sri Lanka have exhibited poor communicative competence in English often influenced by the so-called university subculture that perceives English as a marker of social class, status, and power due to its historical significance. This study explores whether resentment towards the English language still persists within university subculture or if there has been a significant shift towards accepting the language as a valuable asset in the face of globalization and technological advancement. Data for the study were collected by administering an online questionnaire to a randomly selected sample of 255 second semester students who were enrolled in a technological study programme affiliated with a government university in Sri Lanka in 2024. The objectives include analyzing historical and socio-cultural factors that shaped undergraduates perceptions toward English and to assess whether resentment towards the language still persists or whether there is a positive shift towards accepting it as a necessary tool. The study aims to provide insights into the complex dynamics of language perception in a post-colonial context, contributing to broader discussions on language, identity and social mobility in contemporary Sri Lanka.

| Incessant Price Increase of Petroleum Products and Entrepreneurial Sustainability in Nigeria: The Case of Delta State | Author : OBOREH, JUSTINA | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :The continuous rise in petroleum prices poses significant challenges for entrepreneurial sustainability in Nigeria, particularly impacting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Delta State. This study examines the direct and indirect effects of fuel price increases on SMEs operational costs, profitability, and long-term viability. Utilizing a mixed survey methods approach of data from 200 SMEs and interviews of 50 entrepreneurs reveal that rising fuel costs elevate business operational cost, reduce profitability, and constrain growth potential. The study also assesses the effectiveness of government policies to address the challenges posed by the incessant price increase and found that the current support measures are insufficient to alleviate the financial strain on SMEs. Recommendations include government-backed subsidies for renewable energy adoption, tax relief, infrastructure investment, and training in cost management to enhance SMEs resilience against fluctuating fuel prices. These insights will contribute to policy discussions aimed at fostering economic stability and sustainability for Nigerias entrepreneurial sector.

| Strategic Internal Drivers for ESG Integration: Enhancing Employee Awareness and Social Aspect of ESG in Bank XYZ | Author : Hasna Bachtiar, Neneng Nurlaela Arief | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :This study investigates the internal strategic drivers necessary for effective ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) integration at Bank XYZ, with a focus on improving employee awareness and addressing social sustainability challenges. As ESG principles increasingly become a benchmark for corporate responsibility, banking institutions play a critical role in aligning their internal processes with global sustainability standards. However, gaps in employee-centric practices often hinder the full integration of ESG values. Using a mixed-method approach, this research combines quantitative surveys and qualitative focus group discussions (FGDs) to identify and address these gaps. The quantitative analysis, conducted using SPSS, involved 339 employees from banks with low ESG performance scores and highlighted specific areas for improvement, such as insufficient ESG training (M = 3.4286) and unclear communication on parental leave policies (M = 3.875). Qualitative insights were gathered and analyzed using NVivo from discussions with four ESG banking experts, revealing actionable strategies, including awareness campaigns, cross-departmental collaboration, and the development of an ESG framework to enhance employee engagement. The findings demonstrate that while employees possess a general understanding of ESG principles, there is a need for targeted role-specific training, improved communication of sustainability initiatives, and empowerment programs to drive engagement. By prioritizing foundational steps, core integration strategies, and fostering a culture of sustainability, Bank XYZ can align its internal processes with ESG objectives. These recommendations aim to not only improve the banks social sustainability performance but also serve as a guide for embedding ESG principles across all organizational levels, contributing to a more sustainable and responsible banking environment. The integration of SPSS and NVivo tools in this research highlights a robust methodological approach, ensuring data-driven insights for both quantitative and qualitative aspects of ESG integration.

Bondame | Abstract | Full Text | Abstract :This study was conducted to investigate possible solutions to help improve the mathematics performance of the students and promote effective and efficient learning by teaching mathematics concepts through Strategic Intervention Material and taking into advantage the incorporation of technology in learning. Employing a mixed method research design, the study was conducted to the 12 bonafide pupils of Villa Imelda Elementary School. The study assessed the interventions impact on their performance using statistical analysis methods such as one grouped pre-test and post-test design, mean and standard deviation, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, t-test, Cohens D and Thematic analysis. The findings showed a positive effect of the intervention, as evident in the significant increase in the post-test mean scores of the pupils from 6.5 to 13.42. This indicated that the intervention drastically improved the performance of the pupils, which had also resulted in a very large effect size with a computed eta squared of 5.94. These initial implications highlighted the promising impact of the Strategic Intervention Material and were effective in enhancing least mastered competency in mathematics. Feedback gathered indicated a significant increase in pupils engagement and mastery in the lesson. Thus, it is recommended that educators should create and utilize similar contextualized learning intervention to improve students learning outcome.
